Mira Khomik began her violin training at the age of four in her hometown of Crimea, Ukraine. At the age of sixteen, Mira was invited to début as a soloist with the L’viv National Philharmonic Orchestra. She graduated with Performance Certificate and Bachelor of Music degrees from L’viv Krushelnytska National School of Music in Ukraine and Chapman Conservatory of the Arts in the US. Mira is a laureate of several national and international competitions in Ukraine, Romania and the US, and had been awarded various academic scholarships and honors throughout her studies. Among Mira’s violin teachers are Yuri Smetanin, Oksana Tsap, Mischa Lefkowitz, and Ihor Tchetchko, who’s pedagogy comes from deep traditions of Moscow Conservatory’s famous Leonid Kogan and Semyon Snitkovski. Mira’s international appearances took her around the globe, resulting in performances throughout Eastern Europe, US and Asia. She regularly performs in recitals and concerts with orchestras as a soloist, as well as a chamber music artist. Dean Anderson is an international conductor and performer. For over a decade, Mr. Anderson has successfully conducted numerous orchestras of all levels including professional, community, university, and youth ensembles. He has worked with such artists as Smokey Robinson, Manhattan Transfer, John Tesh, Jimmy Hopper, Lincoln Mayorga, and Arlo Guthrie. He currently works at Fullerton College as the music director of the Fullerton College Symphony. Additionally, Mr. Anderson music directs the Dong Shin Youth Orchestra, the Irvine Young Concert Artists, and the Montage Civic Orchestra. He studied violin, viola, and conducting at the University of Missouri, where he received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees. Alice Gallagher made her debut as a young artist at eighteen as guest soloist with the Boston Pops. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from The Juilliard School, and is currently in the Master of Music program at CSU Fullerton, studying under Håkan Rosengren. Ms. Gallagher has served as substitute for the New World and La Jolla Symphonies as well as for the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. Her chamber music career began at Juilliard, where she performed in a series of concerts in Alice Tully Hall. She was also a founding member of the Boston-based Arcturus Chamber Ensemble in 2000. Ms. Gallagher currently teaches clarinet privately and also gives weekly clinics in school throughout Orange and San Diego counties.
Alexander Lavruk was born in former Soviet Union, starting his music studies at the age of five. By the time he was ten years old, he was performing in local and state competitions as well as talent shows. He was accepted with scholarship to the College of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Accordion Performance with Distinction. Mr. Lavruk received training majoring in Folk Orchestra studies at the Kuybishev University of Culture, and recently graduated with his Masters of Music degree in Conducting from California Baptist University, Riverside. His teaching experience started at Togliatti Music Academy, Russia in 1977 until his immigration to the US in 1994. At that time he earned & achieved a professional recognition & fame as a teacher and a performer. Mr. Lavruk has performed numerous recital & concerts, and has appeared as soloist with City Folk Orchestra and Jiguli Dance Co. He has appeared in performances throughout the former Soviet Union, Germany, Poland and the US.
Mr. Lavruk successfully continues to teach and perform in the US. Currently he is an adjunct faculty at San Bernardino Valley College, where he teaches classical guitar, piano and accordion. At the same time he continues to work as chamber and studio musician with his chamber group A-Quintet, concentrating on the music of Astor Piazzolla the genre of Tango Nuevo.
Sorah Myung received her B.M. in Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, The Theta Chapter of the National Music Honor Society. She earned M.M. in Performance from Yale University School of Music where she studied with Erick Friedman, Heifetz’s own protégé. She received Charles Ives Scholarship during her studies there. Also, she studied very closely with internationally acclaimed- violinist Ilya Kaler, and violist Rami Solomanov, Roland Vamos, St.Petersburg String Quartet, Tokyo String Quartet before moving out to California. As an active chamber musician and an orchestra player, she has performed with Moscow Chamber Orchestra, New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, Concertante di Chicago in Chicago, Bowdoin festival Orchestra in Bowdoin MA, Orford Chamber musician in Canada, and AIMS Festival Orchestra in Austria.
Hoang Nguyen is a concert pianist and piano teacher in Orange County, California. He was born in Vietnam and made orchestral debut at the age of 13 with the National Symphony Orchestra. Hoang graduated from Conservatoire National de Region de Paris in France, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and California State University, Fullerton. Feliks Volozhanin, Russian born cellist, began studying cello at the age of seven. He received recognition as an artist after becoming a laureate of Chelyabinsk State Youth Cello Competition at the age of twelve and continued his studies in Moscow, Russia. Since moving to the United States, Mr. Volozhanin has won first prize in various local and national competitions, studying at Southeastern Louisiana University with Karen Jung. Mr. Volozhanin has successfully performed as a recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestras on two continents; his recent engagements include solos with the Rapides Symphony, the Symphony of the Mountains and the SLU Chamber Orchestra. Volozhanin’s performances have been broadcast on television in the United States as well as in Russia. He is currently a full scholarship student at the California State University Fullerton studying with professor of cello Bongshin Ko. Mr. Volozhanin has also studied with esteemed cellists Kirill Rodin, Tchaikovsky Competition Gold Medalist. His artistry is based on the deep understanding of musical fabric combined with truly individual approach of each piece. Lynn Worcester is active as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher of piano and piano pedagogy. She has appeared with several orchestras including the Portland Symphony Orchestra, the San Jose Chamber Orchestra, and in 2005 she performed Poulenc’s Two-Piano Concerto in the California State University, Fullerton’s Clayes Performing Arts Center with members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Worcester’s distinguishing piano teachers have been Eduardo Delgado, Krassimira Jordan, and Daniel Pollack. In the summer of 2009, she studied with Thomas Kreuzberger at the Vienna Conservatory of Music and performed throughout Austria. She is an active member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California presents master classes and lecture-recitals throughout the southern California region, and her pedagogy studies include training with nationally recognized pedagogue Dr. Martha Baker Jordan.
